Keeping an eye on celebrity jewelry is an excellent way to monitor current jewelry trends and preview styles that may be popular in a season or two. Celebrities have access to the newest designs, and it isn’t unusual for a piece of jewelry worn by a popular star to quickly become a hot fashion trend.
Though the fashions are a little understated for this year’s trends, there is no lack of jewelry trends for 2022. Choker necklaces have been a strong jewelry trend all year long. Statement rings are also a favorite. Necklaces made a strong comeback and ranged from bold ‘statement’ styles to long pendants.
The jewelry trends 2022 is packed with fashions reminiscent of classic Hollywood, but gowns varied widely, from neutrals to brights and from simple lines to, well… fluffy.
Jewelry is a mix, as always, with much of it delicate in appearance (but not in price). Vintage jewelry takes top honors, some draping with an almost fluid look. Celebrities wear necklaces down their backs, a trend that’s become popular in recent years.
This year’s trends are full of bling as usual, but what struck me is the lackluster showing of statement earrings and necklaces. Instead, I spotted a ton of great bracelets and ring stacks. Join me in exploring some of the finer jewelry details of this year’s trends.
2022 Jewelry Trends You’ll Want to Wear
The 2022 jewelry trends brought out all our favorite celebrities in their finest jewels. Some opted to wear minimal fine jewelry, but the stars who made this list brought diamonds, vintage gold, opulent gemstones, and more! Trends included large pinkie rings, elongated dangle earrings, and bare or simple necklines.
What better chance to drool over the fine jewelry of the rich and famous than at a red carpet event? This year, many celebrities paired earthy leaf motifs with yellow gold and diamonds. Some decked out their designer attire with traditionally styled diamond jewelry, while others layered wide yellow gold bands and bangles for a sleek modern look.
Jewelry trends are all over the runways this year, with fashion designers reinventing some old styles and bringing back some old favorites.

Long Statement Necklaces
Necklaces are a great way to add some pop to an outfit, finish a look and add some flair to a basic ensemble. For 2022 there are some great necklace trends to consider, many of which have been around for some time. The good news is if you have already had some necklaces in your wardrobe from last season, they will probably work just as well this year.
When you’re wearing bulky sweaters and turtlenecks, it can be difficult to pull off necklaces. In some seasons, designers forgo necklaces altogether. This season, the longer the necklace, the better.
The black beaded pearls highlight two different trends in one: the reemergence of pearls as a noted fashion accessory and the long, draping statement necklace.
Necklaces worn in many layers look chic and stylish. You can wear one multilayer necklace or a few necklaces in the same color or different colors to brighten up your look.
Layering necklaces is as simple as picking the right two or three necklaces. You want each necklace to enhance your style and aesthetic without overwhelming your decollete.
Make sure the necklaces you layer together are of different lengths. A choker-length necklace will pair nicely with an opera-length necklace.
Mix the size and shape of your pendants/focal pieces. A simple diamond solitaire necklace like the one shown here will pair nicely with a vertical bar pendant necklace.
Fabric chokers have been donning celebrities for a few months now, but Fall is the perfect time to get even more creative with this jewelry look.
The best thing about this trend? It is so easy to DIY and won’t cost you a lot of money to get the “runway look for less.”
Choker necklaces have gone in and out of fashion for years. They were really popular during the Victorian Era as well as in the 1990s. Based on the runways the last few seasons, choker necklaces are back again and aren’t going anywhere soon!
Flowers have inspired jewelry designers for centuries, and this season’s red carpet was no different. Rodarte wasn’t afraid to pair multiple statement jewelry pieces with his bedazzled gowns, each piece reminiscent of a fairy dreamland.
Seek out headpieces and bib necklaces with various floral and natural motifs to get this look.
You can get lost in the details here, and you should. The jewelry is spectacular.
There is nothing more feminine than pairing a long, slender pair of glistening earrings with a diamond tiara!
These shoulder dusters are classic in black and are wispy and whimsical at the same time. Pair long black earrings with a bold rep lip and an off-the-shoulder sweater to achieve this look.
What makes a pair of earrings feminine? They should belong, they should be lacey, and they should include feminine materials like pearls. These check all the boxes.
Sometimes it can be considered a faux pas to wear bold, long earrings with a large necklace. That is not the case this season. These colorful chandelier earrings complement the multi-colored statement necklace that is strung together using another trend: fabric!
Earrings are a hit for 2022 jewelry trends. Long drops and pendant earrings are popular, and so are chandelier earrings of all sizes, from delicate to overpowering. Small and large hoops are another popular look, with a few celebrities wearing hammered and diamond-studded versions.
Earrings of all sorts are a hit, and so are rings and wide, stacked bracelets or layering necklaces. Glitzy clutch bags completed the looks.
Long, Pendant Necklaces
Long pendant necklaces are on-trend for 2022. Pendants on these longer necklaces tend to be fairly large, and pendant motifs run the gamut from traditional round or teardrop shapes to crosses and other designs. Most of these pendants hang from long chains; some are interspersed with beads.
Although long pendant necklaces are a top style for 2022, petites may want to stick to pendant necklaces that aren’t quite so long.
It’s probably a good idea for short women to avoid wearing a pendant necklace that falls to the waistline or one that flops around in an unflattering manner. If a necklace is too long, a petite woman may emphasize her short stature by wearing it.
Minimalist jewelry is everywhere; it’s in department stores, it’s on Instagram, it’s all over celebrities. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you find new ways to layer, combine, and style these simple pieces.
You might even consider getting your ears pierced again so that you can layer more minimal and trendy earrings. While we are all for statement jewelry, larger jewelry makes it difficult to wear multiple jewelry pieces at once. Layering minimal jewelry is effortless because each piece is so basic and so understated.
Pearls are back! Not only were they seen all over the runway, but designers also added a modern twist to their pearls by turning them into a choker.
We see way more of this trend on the runways, but this seems to be where the trend began. Lost an earring? No problem, just wear one and pretend that’s the look you intended. Wear it along or match it with another earring.
Beaded, Stitched Statement Necklaces
Making a fashion statement, beaded, stitched statement necklaces tend to be big and bold for 2022 jewelry trends. Beaded, stitched statement necklaces are fabricated with a leather or fabric backing onto which beads are sewn, or faux jewels are sewn or sometimes attached with glue.
For petites who want to wear a beaded, stitched statement necklace, the best bet is to look for a necklace that forms a V-shape, which helps visually elongate the figure.
Also, avoid the biggest necklaces and opt for a necklace that’s more in proportion to short stature.
Black is back–at least in jewelry for 2022. You’ll see all types of black jewelry pieces, including rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Many of the black pieces feature a lacey look with black metal, black metal chains, or black beading.
Jet, which was often used for Victorian mourning jewelry and is still used for jewelry today, black onyx, and black rhinestones are some of the black stones that we’ll see in black jewelry trends for 2022.
Black drop earrings ring with black stone, beaded black bracelets, and black pendant necklaces are some of the black jewelry that would probably work best for the petite woman.
However, if black isn’t your best color–it washes out some complexions–avoid black necklaces and black earrings and instead opt for a black ring or a black bracelet so that you’re not wearing black next to your face.
We all have brought ethnic jewelry from different travels. Now it’s time to wear it. Make a statement with your bright and interesting necklaces, large rings, earrings with feathers, fringe, and knitted elements. Add unusual ribbons and wooden details in your hair, and don’t care much about matching things. This year’s motto is: the more, the better. Just look at some models who wear loads of such jewelry and look terrific!
Today, when people more and more turn to nature, there is nothing surprising in the fact fashion designers try to use genuine materials in their creations. For 2022 jewelry trends, it is the stones that are used in so many impressive ways.
Bracelets in Geometric Shapes
Square, triangle, cubic, and round bracelets are very trendy this season. They might look a little tough, but when perfectly coordinated with an outfit, they can give the right emphasis to the look.
Latest Trend Hoop Earrings Fashion
Hoop earrings are another traditional style that is as popular today as they were ages ago. Hoops can come in a variety of different materials, such as gold, silver, or even hard plastic.
There are small, delicate hoops and big, gold hoops. Some hoops are thin; others are thicker. There are the choices of celebrities are hoop earrings that are perfect circles and ones that are more oval-shaped. There are even square and rectangular choices that are similar to circle hoops in style.
Get the Look for Less With Summer Jewelry Trends
Most of us aren’t lucky enough to have designer jewelry loaned or given to us, but there are alternatives to spending thousands of dollars just to wear some of the styles we see on celebrities. When someone wears a look that matches my tastes, the $$$ savings are the motivation I need to search the Web for look-alike jewelry.
Despite excessive heat and sweating, summer is not a time where we should abandon our jewelry. Instead, opt for lighter designs that can add just the right amount of shimmer to your summer skin. Here are some summer jewelry trends that will help you layer jewelry like the bohemian goddess you are.
Our first trend is the classic cuff bracelet. Current styles include arm cuffs that have a gap in the center.
Wear these cuffs higher up on the arm and layer a larger, more simple style around your wrist.
Midi rings might seem like a newer jewelry trend, but they have been a “thing” since as early as the 1700s. Women (and men) would continue to wear rings they would receive when they were infants. Instead of sizing these rings up, they were worn mid-finger instead.
These rings are very affordable to purchase in precious metals like gold and platinum because they don’t weigh a lot. They are also thin enough that you can’t even tell you’re wearing them, which is perfect for summer.
The daintier the rings are, the more you can wear without looking over-accessorized.
The daintier the jewelry is, the more you can wear without looking over-accessorized.
The cuff earrings from the 1990s are back, and no one’s complaining. My only regret is not hanging onto the plethora of cuffs I had collected in my early teens before my parents let me get all the ear piercings I wanted.
Now that I’m older, I still like “faking” my ear piercings from their number to where they are positioned on my ear. Since I’m no longer in my teens, though, I opt for more adult versions like the Lane Woods cuff shown here in solid gold.
Summer is the only season when toe rings start trending unless you live in a tropical climate and wear sandals all year round. Toe rings are meant to be fun and shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
Unless you’re ultra-careful, avoid toe rings with stones, prongs, or bulky edges. Don’t be afraid to pair multiple toe rings with mismatched ankle bracelets. Just beware: if you’ll be in the sun a lot, you may end up with some funky-looking tan lines since our feet are exposed to almost as much fun as our shoulders.
Shades of Blue or Pink
Both Pantone colors of the year are perfect shades for summer jewelry. Serenity is a soft blue and Rose Quartz a light rose color. The rose quartz gemstone is a generally inexpensive stone that looks ultra-modern when it is set in rose gold. Serenity can be achieved using stones like aquamarine, blue topaz, or light sapphire.
If you don’t want to splurge on any of those gemstones, there are other ways to add some color to your jewelry.
Celebrity Inspired Jewelry Trends for 2022
Pear Shaped Earrings
You don’t need to have access to high-end designers and an endless amount of cash to wear jewelry looks from the rich and famous. Celebrity inspired jewelry is easy to come by if you know what to look for. I’ve collected my favorite jewelry trends celebrities are wearing this season and found some affordable options in case you see a look you just can’t live without.
These earrings are ideal for a very high-end look for an affordable price. The earrings are not considered costume jewelry but rather lower-end fine jewelry. The pair is cost-effective because the company uses quality copper plated with 18k real gold and uses crystal pearls.
Despite these cost savings, you’ll still get a celebrity-worthy look that will last for decades with the proper care.
Love Knot Necklace
Love knots have been popular since the Victorian era. Since this style of necklace is hefty due to its thick, solid nature, it would cost thousands to have this made in solid gold.
Diamond Ear Climbers
A good pair of earring climbers are not terribly difficult to find, especially since celebrities like Emma Stone and Keira Knightley have made them wildly popular by wearing them on high-profile red carpets. If you wish to purchase diamond earring climbers, you’ll want to be sure there are good reviews indicating that the earrings are snug and secure. Some cheaper versions have a tendency of falling off.
Double-Sided Diamond Stud Earrings
I just love how simple and elegant Charlize Theron’s jewelry taste is. She always seems to make even extravagant diamond jewelry look effortless and wearable.
The double stud earrings she wore to WE Day California are actually completely wearable, either on their own or as part of an earring stack.
Double-Sided CZ Earrings
Generally, I like to share photos of the fine version of my celebrity-inspired jewelry choice, but this pair of CZ’s were so close in nature to Charlize Theron’s look that I had to share. You could buy three pairs of these earrings and still feel okay about it.
Slim Gold Choker Necklace
Brittany Snow kept her jewelry look for the MTV Movie Awards very simple, and that’s okay. Yellow gold tones have made their way back into the spotlight, which is for the better, considering some skin tones simply look better in yellow or rose gold as opposed to white gold or platinum.
Thin Gold Omega Chain Choker
Solid gold jewelry is not cheap, so if you want to get a trendy look, you have two options: shop for the costume version or shop for the fine version. If you opt for a gold-plated piece, it is likely you can keep it looking as good as the real thing for many years. There’s a chance if you splurge on the solid gold version, your necklace may increase in value many years down the road as gold prices continue to rise.
So there you have it, my most recent venture into what jewelry celebrities are currently wearing. Did you have a favorite?
Ok, that is all about jewelry trends for 2022. I hope you like most of them and will enjoy wearing those.
