What did you wear to prom? Did you go for a full ballgown, or did you keep it short and sweet? Or did you blow the whole thing off? We want to know!
Ah, prom dress shopping. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. Actually, for me, it was a super laid-back time. I stumbled upon my prom dress while I was out of town visiting a friend who’d moved away for college. It was October of my senior year, so it was pretty early to buy a prom dress, but you know what they always say: these things happen when you least expect them. I didn’t find my dress, my dress found me. When you know, you know. Right, guys? Right?
Anyway, my friend and I were browsing through the aisles at Ricki’s when a black and cream lace dress caught my eye. It was a halter style, relatively affordable, and it fits well. I needed a semi-formal dress for the cruise my family and I were going on over the Christmas holidays, so I figured that I could kill two fancy birds with one $70 stone. After a quick phone call to my mom, the dress was mine. I paid for it with the money I made from my part-time job at McDonald’s, and it was definitely the most expensive item of clothing I’d ever bought for myself.
My prom was in May of 2007–our theme was 007, but of course –and you know what? I still think the dress I wore is pretty nice. No regrets here! For the after-party, my friends and I made matching T-shirts with “Prom’ 07″ on the front. As far as teenagers go, I think we were pretty cute ones. Anyway, here’s what I wore to prom:
See? It could have been far worse, I think! The barefoot-in-the-backyard look worked for me, and would you get a load of those sassy chandelier earrings? I bought them at Claire’s if you’re looking to add some glamour to your life.
