What to Wear on the Weekend – Casual Jeans Outfits

10 Low Maintenance Jeans Outfits for Weekends

What are you going to wear this weekend? If you’re like most other women, jeans are an essential part of your weekend wardrobe — especially for casual events and hanging out. Many of us put so much effort into dressing for work; we’re exhausted by the effort by the time Saturday morning rolls around. Even if you can dress casually from Monday to Friday, there’s something about the weekend that makes a woman want to take it easy.

Still, you want to look good, not sloppy — you just don’t want to kill yourself getting dressed. For those lazy weekend days when sleeping in late takes precedence over outfit planning, I’ve rounded up my favorite low-maintenance denim outfits inspired by street style looks. Wear these outfits when you want to look good in jeans, without looking like you tried too hard, on the weekend or any day when you don’t need to dress up.

Wear Ankle Grazing Jeans With a Trench Coat

It’s the fashion editor’s weekend outfit of choice for a reason — jeans and a trench coat will always be a classic outfit. Any jeans will do, but a cropped pair with frayed hems is instantly stylish for a day of shopping, whether you wear glossy ankle boots (as pictured) or keep it real in easy sneakers.

Wear Girlfriend Jeans and a Black Turtleneck

Girlfriend jeans are made for weekends. This denim fit, essentially a boyfriend jean that’s cut a bit slimmer through the hips and legs to better suit a feminine frame, offers a relaxed look that’s fashionably slouchy, but not sloppy. Wear these loose-fit pants with a slender, black turtleneck to look instantly dressed for weekend trips to the library. Pop on a chain strap purse for a touch of polish, or carry a knapsack if you don’t care.

Wear a One-Piece Denim Outfit

Too tired to get dressed after staying up late? Take the easy way out by pouring yourself into an easy denim jumpsuit, like this one-piece overall by the Frame Denim brand. You can dress it up with a scarf or necklace, or skip the accessories for a clean and easy look. Wear it to the park with friends, or to sporting events this weekend.

Wear Denim Culottes With a Short Jacket

Denim Culottes
Denim culottes are a trendy style for weekends now.

Denim culottes are trending now. You’ll look instantly dressed up — with barely any effort — when you wear this new spring staple with a cropped blazer and a basic tee. You can wear heels and a cross-body bag as pictured, or slip into ballet flats and stash your wallet in your side pocket. Either way, you’ll look ready for brunch, gallery hopping, or visiting the parents.

Wear Ripped White Jeans and a Button-Down

The low-maintenance weekend style is all about feeling comfortable and not fussing too much. That doesn’t mean you can’t look trendy in your downtime outfits, though. When you want to look effortlessly fashionable, look for easy-to-wear pieces that create a fresh effect when worn together. Here, an oversized, button-down denim shirt nicely balances a pair of ultra-skinny white jeans, for a sexy, borrowed-from-the-boys feel.

I love how the outfit pictured here feels laid back but polished, thanks to high-quality leather accessories. The mirrored sunglasses add a 1970’s vibe that works. Wear this look for weekend antiquing or cruising art galleries.

Try a Double Denim Outfit

Double denim is twice as nice for weekends.

Double denim is a trend that isn’t going anywhere. Flatter your figure by choosing a chambray denim shirt in a lighter wash than your jeans, as pictured. Layer on a boyfriend-style coat for warmth and wear with slouchy ankle boots or sneakers for walks with friends or browsing the flea markets this weekend.

Wear Boyfriend Jeans and a Leather Jacket

Boyfriend Jeans
Edge up your weekend jeans with leather.

You probably already have both of these staples in your closet. (If not, now you know what to shop for this weekend!) Boyfriend jeans with distressed details go together with a biker-inspired leather jacket like PB & J. Wear a thin tee under the jacket, yank on your go-to ankle boots, and you’re dressed for meeting friends.

Skinny Jeans and a Cardigan

When you’ve got a pair of skinny jeans that fit your body perfectly, you can pair them with shrunken (or oversized) separate and look like you meant to do that. Ripped skinny jeans and a cardigan are the ultimate easy-to-put-together outfit for weekends. Here, they’re dressed up with next-level sneakers and a fancy bag, but all you need are basic runners, your favorite sunglasses, and a carry-everything wallet that doubles as a clutch.

Wear this comfy combo for a weekend coffee meet-up with someone cute, or riding your moped around town.

Wear Straight Leg Jeans and a Bomber Jacket

Bomber jackets are popping up in all my street-style feeds. Here, a classic suede bomber style is paired with high-waist, straight-leg jeans for an outfit that will take you less than a minute to get into. You can dress it up with look-at-me shoes and a statement purse as pictured, but I’d probably wear this outfit for weekends with flat ankle boots and a simple bag.

Wear a White Leather Jacket and Mom Jeans

There’s a touch of Nashville about this street-style look in jeans, even though it was snapped in Paris. A white leather jacket (with or without embellishments) makes a great topper for high-waist, straight-leg denim. Flip-up the cuffs of your jeans and pop your jacket collar for a cool update on this low-maintenance outfit. It’s pictured here with heels, but I’d swap those for sneakers to stay comfy on the city streets all day.
