Sorry skinny jeans lovers, flared pants are making a huge comeback. Check out the flares you should swap your tight pants for.
Skinny jeans lovers, you knew this day would come. Skinny pants have been popular for a long time, but we’re finally starting to see more trouser options than just leggings, jeggings, and skinny jeans. We’ve seen more wide-leg pants on the runways, mom jeans have recently gained popularity, and now flares are making a big comeback. It’s a natural progression after the summer’s must-have bottoms, the culottes, and it fits with the larger 1970′s revival that’s going on right now. If the word “flares” have you imagining massive bell bottoms, shake those thoughts out of your head. The latest styles are more streamlined and subtle—there’s no crazy disco fever here.

Give your skinnies a break and try one of these 14 pairs of flares:
1. Pull-On Corduroy Flares ($78, Free People)
These chocolate brown corduroy flares could be a great staple in your fall wardrobe. The stretchy kick flares actually have an elastic waist and faux closures. Think of them as your dressy leggings.
2. Let’s Get Retro Jeans ($59.99, ModCloth)
You can get away with these dark flares with contrasting stitching on casual Fridays. Pair them with heels and a white blouse to dress them up.
3. Flare High Jeans ($39.99, H&M)
Come on, it isn’t that hard to swap your high-waisted skinny jeans for these high-waisted denim flares. They have the same slim thighs but they have a hem that lets your ankles breathe.
4. Alice & You Suedette Flares ($73, ASOS)
You can wear these suede-look flared pants with anything in your wardrobe. The fabric is as soft as your sweatpants. The exposed zipper on the front is a nod to the 1970′s that doesn’t look costume-y.
5. Geometric Jacquard Print Flares ($52, Topshop)
There are lots of flared pants that are perfect for summer music festivals but if you want a pair you can wear into the new season, these trousers with the geometric jacquard pattern are a good choice. You can get away with them all year.
6. Flared Flare Jeans ($26.99, Mango)
Get those images of massive bell-bottoms out of your head and have a look at these jeans. Do they really look that much different than your skinnies? The distressed jeans have a subtle flared hem that is good for those skinny jean addicts who aren’t ready for proper 1970′s flares.
7. Lioness Flower Child Flare Pants ($68, Nasty Gal)
Looking for something else to wear to go out instead of your usual dress? Try these printed pants. The navy and camel sateen fabric is dressy enough for the evening. Pair the flares with platforms and a crop top for a modern look with a retro twist.
8. Flared Corduroy Trousers ($49.90, Zara)
Swap your khakis for these brown corduroy flares. They have two square patch pockets on the front for a vintage look but the subtle flared hem makes them modern for 2015.
9. J Brand Martini Flared Jeans ($139.95, Anthropologie)
If you’re concerned about printed flares looking too retro, try a pair of jeans in a unique color. These light gray flared jeans are modern and a fresh update to your usual blue pair.
10. ’70s High Waist Flared Jeans With Button Detail ($54, ASOS)
Want to go for a real 1970′s look? These high-waisted flared jeans are a perfect throwback to the decade. They have a button-up waist and intentionally unfinished hem so it’s okay for once if your jeans start to fray.
11. 1969 Resolution Destructed Skinny Flared Jeans ($79.95, Gap)
Ripped jeans are always a popular option. You probably own at least one pair of distressed skinnies and one pair of ripped mom jeans but do you have any destructed flares? These soft black ones come in short, regular, and tall inseams.
12. Tile Print Flare Pants ($17.90, Forever 21)
These flares have a subtle tile print that will pair well with the basics in your wardrobe. They’re made out of a super soft knit fabric. They are like your pajamas but much more chic.
13. Betton Flared Pants ($178, Reformation)
If you’re looking for a new way to wear your beloved crop tops, try them with these flared jeans. The exposed zipper closure and contrasting white stitching on the front pockets were meant to be seen, not hidden under a top.
14. Cooperative Patsy Flare Pants ($79, Urban Outfitters)
Meet your new favorite work pants. These black flares have a slim fit with a subtle flare at the bottom and a flattering high waist. They also make your legs look ten miles long.
