It’s a pretty awesome time to be Mindy Kaling. Actually, any time is an awesome time to be Mindy, because she’s just an all-around awesome chick, but it’s particularly great now. Wanna know why? Because she just announced the release date and the cover for her second book, Why Not Me?, and she’s on the June 2015 cover of InStyle looking like the literal epitome of Spring. Is there a life-switching machine out there that I can borrow for a hot minute?

I know I tend to overuse this term, but Mindy’s cover is absolutely FLAWLESS. She’s wearing a floral print dress with a similar cut to the Michael Kors gown that Hailee Steinfeld wore to the 2015 Met Gala, and the purple statement lipstick is 100% on. Freaking. Point. Then again, I’m a sucker for purple lipstick, so maybe I’m just a tad biased. And, per usual, Mindy’s hair is flowing in the wind, making her look like the magical goddess unicorn that we all know she is.
And that’s not all the flawlessness we’ve been offered from this shoot. Mindy was spectacular enough to give us a sneak preview at the rest of the cover shoot. She posted this one to her Instagram, saying that it was her favorite look:
There’s just so much “yes” here that I don’t even know where to start. First of all, I die at any and all printed blazer, so even if that were all that was great about this look, I would still be all about it. But the fact that its part of a suit and it’s draped over what appears to be a bustier-style top just makes it that much better, and the understated makeup and large statement earrings are the ideal finishing touches.

I could go on and on about how fantastic these shots are, but quite frankly, I don’t know that The Gloss is the ideal platform for my fan novel about Mindy Kaling. Suffice it to say that this isn’t the first time that Mindy has totally crushed a magazine cover, and it certainly won’t be the last.
