Uses For Botox – It’s Not Just All About Smoothing Wrinkles

As we age, collagen gradually disappears from our skin, leaving lines and furrows. Each time we smile or frown, we create these lines on our face. This is unavoidable and is part of the aging process. There are, however, a number of treatments available to reduce the appearance of these lines and prevent them from increasing. Botulinum toxin injection is the most popular treatment among them.

Uses For Botox - It's Not Just All About Smoothing Wrinkles

Botulinum toxin is a protein that temporarily weakens the muscles that gather your skin into folds, making it crease-proof enough to prevent wrinkles from being appeared or worsened. A trained doctor can pinpoint which muscles to be weakened without causing any complications.

What can botulinum toxin do for you?

Reducing lines, wrinkles:

  • crows feet (smile lines)
  • frown lines
  • forehead lines
  • bunny lines (nose)
  • marionette lines (mouth to chin lines)
  • mouth lines (smokers lines)

Shaping and contouring:

  • eyebrow lift
  • facial slimming for overactive jaw muscles
  • turning up corners of the mouth
  • dimpling of the chin
  • firming & lifting of mild sagging jawlines
  • aging neck (platysmal bands/necklace lines)

Improving skin texture

  • minuscule doses of Botox can be injected evenly all over the face
  • results are less visible pores, less oily and firmer skin

Reducing excessive sweating (underarms, palms & forehead)

Uses For Botox

Contrary to popular belief, botulinum neurotoxin is not only used to smooth or decrease facial wrinkles. There are four types of botulinum toxin, divided into two types, type A and type B. Type A includes Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, and Type B is known as MyoBloc. Botulinum toxin has many uses. Some uses are solely therapeutic and have nothing to do with smoothing facial lines or wrinkles. Other uses are purely for an improvement in appearance.

What can botulinum toxin do for you

Either way, the premise of using the botulinum toxin is to paralyze the muscle into which it is injected. So just what are these medical, non-cosmetic uses of botulinum toxin?

Migraines: Botulinum toxin has been used as a safe and effective preventative treatment for migraine headaches. While sufferers of migraines will still need to have their normal medications handy in case of the onset of a headache, the need to take these medications may decrease in frequency or dosage due to the effects of botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is injected into the areas around the temples, forehead, neck, and shoulders. This is an FDA-approved treatment for patients with chronic migraines.

Excessive Sweating: Do you feel as if you sweat more than most people? This condition is known as hyperhidrosis.

This could be embarrassing if the areas of excessive sweat include your face, armpits, or hands. Do you constantly ruin the armpit of your shirts, or are you reluctant to shake hands due to your excessive sweating? Then botulinum toxin injections into your armpits, hands, face, or feet may be helpful in reducing your full-on sweat to a nice dewy glow!

Urinary Incontinence: For those with an overactive bladder, botulinum toxin injections into the wall of the bladder can decrease the symptoms of this disorder. Symptoms of an overactive bladder include needing to get up at night to urinate, not making it to the toilet in time, and having to urinate frequently. A botulinum toxin injection into the bladder wall, which contains a layer of muscle, is one option for treating urinary incontinence when traditional medications have been effective.

Muscles spam: For people who have chronic muscle spasm or muscle twitches that are painful and/or interfere with normal daily activities can have Botox injected into these muscles to help stop unwanted muscle contractions. Such conditions can include spasms associated with multiple sclerosis or constant eyelid twitching, known as blepharospasm.

Tennis Elbow: A botulinum toxin injection into the elbow can help reduce the pain from tennis elbow.

Strabismus: In this condition, the eyes are crossed and do not look at an object together. As botulinum toxin is a muscle paralyzer, injection in the affected eye muscles can help realign the eyes and improve vision.

Anal Fissure: An anal fissure is a painful cut of the anus. These normally heal on their own with a stool softener and pain medication. However, for chronic anal fissures, a botulinum injection into the anal sphincter will cause relaxation of the sphincter muscle. The relaxation of the sphincter muscle allows stool to pass more easily so as to leave the fissure undisturbed and able to heal.

Whether the botulinum toxin is used for medical or cosmetic reasons, the duration of effect is similar, depending on the amount injected into the affected areas. In the United States, only certain conditions will get insurance coverage for botulinum toxin treatment. The cost of medical uses for botulinum toxin can be just as, if not more expensive, than botulinum toxin used for cosmetic reasons!

With all the new uses of Botulinum type products being researched every year, having a trusted and reliable place to buy Botox online at the best prices can provide any facility an advantage to store more products on location. Buying Botox at Fillershop.net can save you both time and money.

Is Botox Only for The Middle-Aged?

Why You Might Want to Consider Botox in Your 20's

When is the right time to start considering Botox? 30’s? 40’s? 50’s? What if we told you the right time could be in your 20’s?

What Will Botox Do For Me?

Botulinum toxin type A (more commonly known as Botox) is a substance used to treat wrinkles in unwanted areas. One of the reasons we form wrinkles over time is due to the constant muscle contractions our faces make on a daily basis.

If one decides to receive Botox injections, their unwanted wrinkles will become softer, less noticeable, and eventually (with regular use) diminished completely. People most commonly receive Botox to treat their frown lines (glabella), crow’s feet, and forehead lines.

Why You Might Want to Consider Botox in Your 20’s

If Botox is used to treat unwanted wrinkles that have already formed, why are the younger, supple-skinned twenty-something’s suddenly becoming interested in this procedure? Think of it as a preemptive strike on wrinkles. Injecting Botox into a muscle temporarily paralyzes it, and since the muscles can’t move anymore, those wrinkles don’t have a chance to become as etched into the skin. Botox is a preventative measure to avoid those future wrinkles altogether.

Medical experts encourage patients to begin Botox injections in their 20’s because the nerve signals will be blocked earlier on, which allows the patient to need the injections less frequently as they start to age.

You don’t have to wait until we see those unsightly lines on our faces before visiting a doctor for Botox injections. With the advanced development of Botox injections, starting to receive Botox at an earlier age may just be the way to go.
