4. She Lost Her Brother in a School Shooting
Niecy lost her younger brother, Michael, in a school shooting in 1993. Shortly after her brother’s death, Niecy’s mother founded M.A.V.I.S. (Mothers Against Violence In Schools). Niecy helped run M.A.V.I.S. up until her mother decided to shut down the organization.
5. Niecy Works With Many Organizations
Niecy has worked with many notable organizations in the past, including Dress for Success and the American Cancer Society. Most recently, Niecy has been helping her friend and fellow actor Wendy Raquel Robinson with Amazing Grace Conservatory. Amazing Grace is an inner-city performing arts program, of which Robinson is the program director.
