We’ve got you covered when it comes to this year’s hottest sunglasses trends. And let us tell you – they’re anything but dull! We’re talking about color, color, and more color! Plus, there’s a new look in frames (thanks to Rhianna) that we know you’re going to love.
So, ditch your old sunnies – they’re so last year! – and catch up on all the oh-so-trendy shades that are going to make your wardrobe pop this summer…
Fun with lenses
Ok, so we’ll talk frames a little bit later, but the main trend you need to be jumping on right now is fun – and funky – lenses. Dark and dreary lenses are a thing of the past. This year we see the fun and stylish variations on the color that means you can really choose your own look.
So, what are you waiting for? Here are your best ways to get some color and style into your look this summer…
You’ve probably noticed this trend slowly taking hold already. We’re certainly expecting it to dominate the 2020 styles. Mirrored sunglasses made their mark on the fashion world way back in the 1940s, but they’ve come back in a big way this year. Flashy colors and shimmering effects make for shades that are both stylish and classy but also a little fun. We’re particularly loving the rose-gold tinted styles we’re seeing around. Want more to love about mirrored sunnies? They make for seriously awesome selfies, too, capturing reflections of everything around you for added Instagrammable style!
Rose-colored glasses… in every color!
Why stop at rose lenses when you can go all the colors of the rainbow? We’re talking blues, greens, or amber hues, as well as your classic pinks. You’ll find classic rimless styles, as well as others, popping up with all these colors and more – some of the pastels and some of them strong and striking. With this new trend, you’ll want to grab more than one pair so you can change them up to match your outfit – or just change colors to suit your mood! They’re certainly fun, and we’re looking forward to seeing them everywhere this year.
Ombre in everything else has come and gone, but now it’s trending – finally – in sunglasses lenses, and we couldn’t be more stoked. We’re loving this style for social outings because they give you protection from the sun but also mean you can meet new people and catch great eye contact all the while. So if you’re heading to festivals, beachside holidays, or just getting around town in the sunshine, these are a great choice for you.
Hottest trends in Frames for 2020
It’s shaping up to be an interesting year with some classics being revisited in a big way, as well as some new and interesting looks coming through. Here’s what you need to know.
Classic is still soaring
We’re very happy to say that aviators are still going strong. And it’s not hard to see why. They really are a winner for everyone: they’re timeless, perfect for men or women, great for formal events or going casual. We love them, and we’re very happy to see their moment in the sun last forever…
Doubling down on a classic feature
Taking off in 2020 is the aviator double-bridge feature, which is popping up everywhere else. And we mean everywhere – on all sorts of designs, for men and women, in all shapes and sizes. Plastic frames plus metallic bridges (our fave look for this season), or double-plastic for a strong and elegant look. Either way, they’re full of character, bringing other simpler styles right into the 2020’s where they belong. We’re loving it!
Strong geometric frames get skinny
Move over skinny jeans, its time for skinny sunnies! Thanks to Rhianna, these have become more and more popular, and we love the way they make a bold statement. So add a drop of drama to your look with an elongated oval or rectangle frame. We’re loving strong black-edged frames here, or even cats-eye shapes for an upswept look with this new trend.
Flat out winner
The other trend we’re seeing coming through is the flat top frame. We’ve seen this trending for a while, but there’s no doubt it’s really going to shine in 2020. So, if you’re looking for a style that brings a certain sass and strength, then this is definitely the trend for you to jump on. It’s a feature that’s being worked into all styles this year, giving a really fun modern look to a lot of classic shapes.
And finally… keep an eye out for more celebrity collaborations this year. Over the past two years, everyone from Post Malone to Sarah Jessica Parker is getting in on the action. Kylie Jenner collaborated with Quay, while Kate Bosworth released her stylish ‘Fascination’ frames – inspired by Marilyn Monroe – that is all about making a statement with color. What does 2020 hold for celeb collaborations? We’ll just have to wait and see, but we know it’s going to be worth checking out.
So when it comes to sunnies this year, you can expect color and style galore. Don’t settle for drab and dull – shake up your look with a new pair of shades inspired by our hottest sunglasses trends for 2020!
