The Common Types of Facelifts Explained

About 18 million Americans had some sort of cosmetic surgery in 2018. Among these procedures are various types of facelifts.

A facelift is a surgical procedure that uses various incisions to pull the facial skin and underlying tissue back, tighten the muscles, and smooth out wrinkles.

The Common Types of Facelifts Explained

If you’re considering getting a facelift, there are many types of facelifts to choose from. What type is best for you will depend on the main reasons you want to get one done in the first place.

This guide will explain different types of facelifts and some facelift benefits.

Mini-Facelift

A mini-facelift is often the best option for patients in good health but want to smooth out a few wrinkles and tighten up some loose skin.

Mini-facelifts can be done under local anesthesia and do not require any type of overnight hospital stay. This means that there’s no need for an expensive trip to a surgical center or recovery facility after your surgery.

During this procedure, incisions will be made around the ears from which excess skin will then be pulled back into place. Sutures are then used to hold everything in its new position until healing is complete.

A small amount of liposuction may also be performed depending on what types of results you’re looking for with your facelift.

S-Lift

An s-lift is a more invasive facelift that targets deeper tissue and muscle fibers to produce an even better outcome.

This type of surgery will also require a much longer recovery period than the mini-facelift. In fact, many patients won’t be able to return to work until at least two weeks after the procedure. There’s fatigue, bruising, and swelling on the face.

The most common cause of needing an s-lift is because you’ve lost so much elasticity in your skin over time. Gravity has now begun taking its toll with wrinkling and drooping facial features.

Jaw Line Rejuvenation

Jawline rejuvenation is a type of facelift that’s performed on people who have lost their jawline. As a result, they look older and more tired.

This procedure will remove any excess skin in the area to help restore how your face naturally looked when you were younger by smoothing out wrinkles or creases under the chin. It may also involve liposuction depending on how much fat has accumulated over time.

After this surgery, sagging skin around the eyes and cheeks can be tightened up as well.

Liquid Facelift

The liquid facelift is a type of lift that’s done using injectable fillers and toxins. This method may be less invasive than the other surgeries, but it doesn’t work as well either.

This procedure focuses on filling up facial tissue with a synthetic substance instead of tightening how skin naturally looks. As a result, many complications are associated with liquid facelifts, such as infections and allergic reactions. They’re also highly unpredictable in terms of how your face will look afterward.

Types of Facelifts

Facelifts are a great way to turn back the clock and restore how you looked when you were younger. There’s really no one-size-fits-all solution that will work for everyone. So it’s important to figure out what types of facelifts may be best suited for your unique needs.
