As you may have noticed, we are pretty into saving money around these parts. Whether we’re shopping at the drugstore to find beauty products that will conserve our hard-earned cash or DIYing beauty solutions using as few ingredients as possible, we are pretty down with keeping our dollars in our own pockets. But every once in a while, there comes a beauty product that we cannot help but want to splurge on, even if there are cheaper versions out there.
For me, this splurge comes in the form of Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion. I love it so much. I love it so, so much. While I have tried at least two dozen different liquid or gel liners in the past year or so, many of which are under $10 and work pretty well, I have never found a liquid eyeliner that I find quite so easy to maneuver across my lids as this one, and it always gives me the absolute perfect point. I do not want to add up the amount of money I have spent on this particular product because it would be embarrassing, but I assure you, it is a lot. The price tag for this one is $19, which may not sound like a lot to some folks, but I wear quite a lot of liner, so I probably go through a tube every six to eight weeks. That adds up! And yet, I cannot get enough of it.
The only other beauty product I always wind up dropping money on is perfume, the main reason being that I can always tell the differences between drugstore dupes or copycat fragrances from the real thing. Plus, many of my favorite scents do not even have those in the first place, so I wind up spending $65 – $100 per bottle. In the past year, though, I have been trying to only buy rollerballs ($15 – 20) or coffrets of multiple scents since I have finally come to terms with the fact that I do not need giant (beautiful, decorative, classy) bottles of perfume all over my room.
What Was Your Best Skin Care Splurge?
We love to talk a lot about affordable beauty and skincare products, but we can’t forget about those products we splurge on that are actually worth it. There are some things that are definitely worth those few extra dollars. When it comes to skincare products, what is your all-time best skincare splurge? Was there a pricey cleanser that cleared up your skin, or did you finally decide to try a tub of Le Mer and realize that it lived up to all the hype?
My best skincare splurge was the LUNA For Sensitive/Normal Skin Facial Brush. I appreciate it even more now after my experiment, where I stopped taking care of my skin, and I eliminated most of the products and beauty tools from my routine. When I started using it again, I noticed how it really helped get my skin squeaky clean and exfoliated my face; no scrub required. I was initially hesitant to try scrub brushes since I thought they would irritate my sensitive skin, but this one is gentle but effective. You also never need to worry about replacing brush heads, so the initial $199 is all you’ll have to pay towards it.
