A Guide To Waxing A Man’s Eyebrows – A Little Pain for Some Great ‘Brows

If you’ve got brows that look like two large caterpillarsa sleeping on your forehead — or even worse, just one big eyebrow — it’s time to take action. But what’s a real man to do? Pluck? Shave? Wax? Waxing, for many, is the best option because it lasts longer.
Eyebrow waxing is something women have been doing forever. It’s very quick and also less painful than plucking and much more effective than shaving. Of course, it’s best to have this done by a professional, but if you’re ready to man up and save a few bucks, here’s how to do it at home.

Waxing A Man's Eyebrows
Excessive Eyebrow Shaping.

1. The Prep

Make sure the ‘brow is neatly brushed so you can see the natural shape. A small toothbrush works well for this purpose. Apply a little witch hazel to anesthetize the skin under the brow.

2. The Wax

You can obtain a professional wax kit at many drug stores or beauty supply stores. The wax is warmed in boiling water and then applied with a small spatula. Carefully follow the directions for warming the wax, so it’s the right consistency and temperature. Apply a thin layer of wax to the areas of hair you wish to remove. Be careful to avoid drips — any stray wax will remove the hair it comes in contact with. After applying the wax, cover with the removal strip.

To shape the brow correctly, do not go too far into the natural growth. Your goal is to shape the eyebrow, but keep it looking natural. Remove only those hairs that are obviously outside the eyebrow’s natural shape. The eyebrow starts just above the tear duct. To determine where the eyebrow should end, place a pencil diagonally from the opposite corner of the mouth to the outside corner of the eye. Any hair beyond the pencil should be removed.

3. The Snatch

Take a deep breath and very quickly pull off the removal strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

This hurts a bit, but you can take it. The pain goes away fairly quickly.

4. The Aftermath

After the snatch, you can remove any strays with tweezers. Your skin will be red for a short period of time, but that will go away. Apply a bit of moisturizer to the area and go pour yourself a beer and watch some football, you manly man!
