Joe Jonas’ Blue Merman Hair
Joe Jonas’ brother Nick Jonas seems to get the most attention regarding his hair, but in recent months, DNCE band member Joe Jonas’ hair has gotten the blues (and greens). The pop superstar started with some very subtle blue highlights and has steadily increased the intensity of the color, and it’s kinda cool. This is men’s merman’s hair done right. DNCE’s new tune Cake by the Ocean is pretty catch, too.
You can try this color using temporary hair chalk, which can be a fun change of pace without the commitment.
Landon Strempel Silver Merman Hair
The trend of men bleaching their hair and dying it silver is a pretty strong trend and this guy, photographer Landon Strempel, does it better than anybody. For many guys with darker hair, achieving this look can be a time-consuming and costly affair. First, the hair has to be bleached to remove the existing color, and then a gray color will be applied. The process can take a few hours and cost a few hundred bucks, but it can be a very cool look.
Just make sure to have this professionally done in a salon to achieve the right look and minimize damage.
Nicholas Petricca Pastel Merman Hair
Walk the Moon frontman Nicholas Patricca is no stranger to creative hair color (or styles, for that matter). I really like this over-the-top style he’s working in in this photo. Not only does he have pastel sections of pink and green in his hair, but he’s also rocking an undercut mullet with a spiked top. This is three decades of punk hair rolled into one. His bandmate Kevin Ray isn’t afraid to color things up a bit, as you’ll see in the next photo.
You could try this type of color with temporary hair chalk if you don’t want to commit to a permanent option.
Kevin Ray Merman Hair
Walk the Moon band member Kevin Ray is certainly not one to shy away from trying a little fun hair color. In this photo, he’s shown with streaks of purple and streaks of green in his merman’s hair. When you’re finished looking at his hair, Shut Up and Dance.
Michael Clifford Red Merman Hair
Michale Clifford from the band 5 Seconds of Summer is also not afraid to try some unusual colors in his hair. For this option, he’s gone bright red, which would require bleaching the hair first and applying the red color. While I think the color is fun, I’m not a huge fan of the haircut, which does nothing to hide his receding hairline.
Jared Leto Pink Merman Hair
Actor/Singer Jared Leto has never been afraid to push the envelope when it comes to his hair. Lately, he’s been sporting slicked-back hot pink merman hair. I can’t imagine what condition his hair is in these days, but it does look cool.
The guy with Maroon Merman Hair
When it comes to merman hair, the trend seems to be a lot of blues and greens, but this maroon option works well with this guy’s natural skin tones and is a somewhat more subtle way to achieve the merman hair look without going too overboard.
Temporary Purple Colored Highlights
Several companies make temporary hair mascara that easily brushes in to create pops of color that can be easily washed out. This is a fun option if you want to add a few bits of colored highlights and change things up a bit.
The man with Natural Color Highlights and Lowlights
For the guy wanting something bold with more natural tones, chunky highlights and lowlights may be the way to go. For the guy in this photo, the hair is highlighted and lowlighted (streaks of hair dyed darker than the natural color) in natural tones to create lots of depth and texture.
Colton Dixon’s Silver Mohawk
Christian artist Colton Dixon goes bold with this silver mohawk. His naturally dark hair was bleached, and then a silver color was applied. The sides and back are shaved to the skin with a 000 clipper blade.
