A great mirror in the shower is an absolutely essential item, in my opinion, as shaving at the end of a shower is the best way to get a barbershop-quality shave. The problem I’ve found with most shower mirrors is that they fog up, they’re too small, or the suction cups don’t hold well. I’ve conducted my review of the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror and have found the mirror solves all of these problems quite well.
Features
Large Mirror: Compared to others I have tried, the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror is huge. The mirror portion measures 8″ wide by 6″ tall and is big enough for me to see my entire face when I’m shaving. I’ve always found most shower mirrors to be too small for my liking, and this one is a nice size.
Fogless: The reason mirrors fog in the shower is due to the condensation of water vapor when it comes in contact with a cold surface. The Toilet Tree mirror solves this problem (much like the Z’Fogless Water Mirror) by including a reservoir for hot water behind the mirror.
Simply fill it up, and the mirror warms up and prevents fogging. I recommend filling the reservoir using the tap before you turn on your shower — it’s much easier that way. The mirror rests on a large lip on the mount, so it’s very easy to take off and put back on.
Mounting: The version of the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror I received has a large back surface covered with adhesive tape which holds the mirror very securely to the shower. Toilet Tree claims it won’t damage your shower and I can’t speak to that claim because I haven’t tried to remove it from the tile. I will say that the large adhesive backing is a welcome change from the traditional suction cups on most mirrors. If like me, you have ever mounted anything in your shower with a suction cup, you might have been awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of crashing in your shower! If this thing falls off, the shower is probably coming down with it. That’s a good thing!
Lighting: The mirror on the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror is surrounded by 12 led lights (which are turned on by an easy to located button on the side). This is a nice feature as it provides plenty of light for shaving. It’s almost too much — I don’t really need this much light on my face first thing in the morning because it reveals just how old and tired I look when I wake up! Seriously, this is a nice touch as it does make getting an even shave much easier. The mirror does use two AA batteries which are hidden in a very well-designed, sealed compartment on the back.
Additional Features: The Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror features an adjustable bracket so that you can change the angle of the mirror to suit your liking (very convenient if you have multiple people varying heights using the same shower). It also includes a small shelf for your razor (although I would have enjoyed a few hook-type razor holders instead) and a squeeze for cleaning water droplets off the mirror (a nice touch). I would recommend not using the squeeze if the reservoir is not filled up as I’ve found this can actually cause the mirror to fog.
Design
Overall, the mirror looks great with clean lines, and I’ve found it to be very durable (I’ve dropped it with the reservoir full without damaging the mirror). The lighted bevel is not actually molded into the mirror, and I’m noticing water and soap collecting in the crevice which may get a little ugly in time. If the mirror and bevel had been designed as one molded piece of plastic, that would probably eliminate that problem. I think they could also frost the bevel to better diffuse the light, but that is really a minor issue. As mentioned above, I would also like for them to have included a few hooks for mounting a razor. If I could recommend any other changes, certainly those above would be something I’d like to see as well as, perhaps, an upgraded finish around the mirror. I would certainly purchase a higher-end model of this mirror if they offered one.
Buying Advice
The manufacturer claims the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror is “The Best Fogless Shower Mirror EVER!” While there are a few minor design items, I will say this is, hands down, the best shower mirror I have ever tried and has become one of my favorite things in the bathroom. You can buy the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror on Amazon or directly from Toilet Tree for around $39, which is a fair price, in my opinion. If you are tired of foggy mirrors, dark showers, and crashes in the middle of the night, the Toilet Tree Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
On a side note, when the package arrived, my roommate looked at the box and asked, “What the heck is a Toilet Tree?!” I thought that was funny and can only imagine what the product would be if the brand name was actually a product.
