Summer’s here, and with all the activities and travel plans, there’s so much to do and little time to do it. With the change in season comes the change in makeup, so it’s imperative to be prepared and also have easy ways to make sure you look your best. With hot weather elements on the rise, be sure to beat the heat with these super simple makeup tips that will have you looking fabulous and out the door in less than 10 minutes!
Don’t Forget The Sunscreen!
The most important thing of all during the summer (and all year round really) is to make sure you slather on the sun protection after moisturizer. While you don’t want to neglect your body when it comes to applying SPF, starting with the face is the best idea as this is where aging starts to show from sun damage early on. Before foundation or BB Cream, apply sunscreen all over the face, neck, and chest area before moving on to arms and legs. Using a sunblock like this on here from La Roche-Posay specifically for the face will help combat breakouts.
For the rest of your body, try a spray sunscreen like L’Oreal Advanced Sun Care Spray, or Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion.
Switch to Cream Eyeshadow
Instead of using a powder eyeshadow, switch to a long-wearing cream formula like this one here from Bobbi Brown. Cream stands up to hotter temperatures in that it’s easy to fix if you tend to have any creasing on the lid, and acts like a great eyeshadow base too if you want to wear powder shadow on top. This will give you staying power and lightweight texture, which is a powerful duo for all-day wear.
Simply swipe on the lid with your finger or an eyeshadow brush to add color and finish with a few coats of waterproof mascara, like this one here from Benefit Cosmetics.
Try Multi-use Products
Palettes and multi-use products are ideal for those who have little to no time getting ready, due to the fact they present multiple options. Having everything in one spot simplifies things and cuts time during your morning routine, and they are great to throw in your makeup bag for touch-ups throughout the day. If you want to add warmth and color to your skin, using a bronzer and blush palette like this one from NARS, is ideal.
Apply bronzer on the face first for warmth and contour, following up with a blush on the apples of the cheeks.

Instant Gratification
Have uneven skin tone or varicose veins? While these issues can be annoying and not the quickest fix, there is something that you can do to help cover them if need be. If you don’t have the time to self-tan or you need something to use for an event in which your legs or arms will be showing, use a makeup bronzing spray like Hiding and Glow Seek from Bliss to cover any imperfections and give your skin that much-needed glow.
It’s really simple to use, all you need to do is spray a light mist onto the skin and then massage the product in so it’s nice and even. Wait a few minutes to make sure it’s dry before putting your clothes on.
Makeup Artist Tip: Keeping your skin regularly exfoliated is key when using self-tanning products and body makeup. The reason? Sloughing the dead skin off leaves a smooth surface for you to apply tanner and body bronzer evenly, without streaking or dry patches. You can easily make your own body scrub at home to use in the shower, by mixing brown sugar or cane sugar with melted coconut oil and storing it in an airtight container. Exfoliate twice a week and see the wonders it does for your skin!
