These tips and tricks will help your makeup last all day, so you don’t have to worry about smudging and having to reapply it.
It is extremely frustrating when you spend forever getting your cat eyeliner symmetrical and ensuring your foundation blends seamlessly with your neck, and your makeup doesn’t even last until lunchtime. You can be a contouring pro, but it isn’t much good if your makeup doesn’t stay on your face longer than a few hours. How can you properly show off your Kardashian contouring when your makeup is smudged and melting down your face? It’s important to know how to apply your makeup properly, but it is just as important to figure out how to keep it on. So, how do you ensure your makeup lasts all day? Do you have one tried-and-true primer? Do you layer products or look for waterproof formulas?

Overall my skin is oily, so it is a battle to get my makeup to last from morning to night without it melting off my face around midday. For my face, I always start with a primer, like Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Then I’ll apply my foundation and concealer and finish that with a translucent powder. If I’m wearing eyeshadow, I’ll use a specific eye primer such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion over my lids. Sometimes I’ll add a bit of concealer over top of the primer before I apply the shadow.
