Favorite Liner To Create A Cat Eye

Do you prefer a pencil or a liquid liner when you’re creating a cat-eye? Do you stick with black or do a colorful flick?

My favorite liner to create a cat eye is Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. It glides on smoothly and provides a precise line that lasts all day. I also like L’Oréal Paris Infallible Flash Eyeliner and Kaja Wink Stamp Wing Eyeliner for their long-lasting formulas. Maybelline’s Master Precise is a great drugstore option for those on a budget.

To perfect the look, I follow Vincent Oquendo‘s 6 foolproof steps for drawing flawless cat-eye liners every time.

People are very particular about finding the right eyeliner the way they are about finding the right mascara. You need something that will give you a crisp, clean line that you don’t have to go over ten different times.

Any cat eye lover can tell you that all black liners are definitely not created equal. There are plenty of options to choose from, including pencils, liquid liners, gels, and even a clay paint liner. We found out what Sephora employee’s favorite liners are, and now we want to know what your picks are. What is your fave liner for creating a cat-eye?

When it comes to a cat-eye, I prefer a liquid liner to get a really graphic finish. I’m a fan of colorful liners because they can really make your eyes pop, but I love a classic black cat-eye. I like liners that have a stiff marker or pen tip. It could be because using one makes me feel like I’m being all arty, but it also has the precise finish.

My current favorite is Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pencil, $22. It delivers a line that is the perfect thickness, and it goes on evenly. It is also waterproof, which is a big plus for summer.

What’s The Best Eyeliner Ever?

Best Eyeliner

If there is any makeup that I have a tendency to abuse, it is eyeliner. I am absolutely obsessed with wearing it, and I almost never leave the house without it despite the Fashion Week runways insisting that no liner/no mascara looks are in.

Even though there will always be big mistakes some people make with liner, it is overall a wonderful beauty product that everybody should try out in different textures, shapes, styles, and shades.

I believe the way you wear your eyeliner can say a ton about your personality, and having a favorite eyeliner that you rely on is a great staple for your beauty routine.

Best Eyeliner Ever

I’ve attempted to find the best bright drugstore liner under $20 in the past, and while the winner was clear, I still find myself always going back to my one deep, dark, trusty pal that I’ve purchased at least a dozen times: Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion ($19). I love it so much. I love it so, so much, and I do not think I will ever find an eyeliner–let alone liquid eyeliner–I like quite as much as this one.

Here’s why I love Urban Decay’s formula the most and have used it in well over half my beauty tutorials here:

  • It lasts ages.
  • When it comes off, it flakes a bit but never smears or smudges under my eye.
  • The brush delivers the perfect amount of formula.
  • It’s as black as the black liner can get.
  • The flexible but thin brush allows for a perfect point.
  • It’s an easy, grip-able package.
  • It also comes in 10 other colors, so if I’m bored, I can use those.

Example: that time I did Cher makeup! It was the perfect tool for the job.

So, dear readers, what is your favorite eyeliner ever? Tell us in the comments, and if you can, post photos. I would absolutely love to check out your fave in action!
