How To Build A Hair Care Routine

Are you tired of having dry, frizzy hair? Worry not for your hair just probably needs a little bit of tender loving care.

Your hair shows a lot about your personality, character, and overall health. People have different hair types, such as straight hair with a fine or coarser texture, wavy hair, tight and springy curls, loose coils, and others. Each hair type has corresponding care management to maintain its great look and health.

Learn how to build a hair care routine according to your hair type below.

Determine Your Hair Needs

Human hair is naturally beautiful even without dyes or other salon interventions and chemical treatments. It has natural oils to moisturize and keep it soft and beautiful.

However, some people have to deal with hair problems like dandruff, split ends, hair loss, dry, frizzy, oily, dull, and heat-damaged hair. That’s why choosing the right products for proper maintenance is advisable for hair health. Consumers have a wide selection of hair products from Hair And Beauty Kingdom or any other trusted brands that they can find suitable for their hair type.

Before you buy any hair product for your routine hair care, it’s crucial to determine your hair needs and type, such as straight hair, wavy, or curly hair. Most manufacturers provide the suitable hair type suitable for their products in labels and listings, such as ‘for dry hair’ or ‘for frizzy hair.’

Other important factors when choosing hair products for routine care include your hair density or volume, hair structure, and porosity. Hair structure pertains to the hair thickness, categorized as fine, medium, or coarse. On the other hand, porosity measures the moisture content that the hair can absorb.

General Hair Routine Care Tips

People don’t have to spend so much money, time, and effort to care for their hair. Experts over at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) highly recommend these general hair routine care tips:

General Hair Routine Care Tips
  • Shampoo Your Hair

Wash your hair as often as necessary using shampoo, focusing on the scalp to remove excess oils and debris. People with oily hair and skin may need to apply shampoo more often.

  • Use Conditioning Products On Your Hair

Apply conditioner after shampooing, concentrating on the hair tips to avoid split ends.

  • Dry Your Hair Properly

Wrap your hair in a towel. Allow your hair to dry or blow-dry on the lowest setting to avoid heat damage.

  • Brush Your Hair

A wide-toothed comb is recommended for brushing hair gently while it’s damp to avoid hair fall and breakage.

Specific Hair Type Care Tips

Different people don unique hair types due to genetics, lifestyle choices, and others. It’s best to remember that specific hair conditions require tailor-fit care. Here are the different care tips for specific hair types:

  • Straight Hair

Straight hair tends to carry more sebum (oil produced by the skin) than curly hair, making them prone to oily hair.

If you have fine or coarse straight hair, try to avoid hair products labeled for dry hair. Avoid applying oil-based styling, leave-on, and oil products, such as coconut oil, to your hair.

You must also wash your hair more often using a gentle shampoo. Gently dry your hair after washing and then brush or comb properly.

  • Curly Hair

Avoid brushing your curly hair too much because it can cause damage. Curly hair tends to get dry. So, you need to reduce shampooing, air drying, and heat hair styling. You can use hair gels and mousses suitable for curly hair for styling and maintaining those locks.

  • Thin Hair

Dense hair products like butter and oils can weigh down thin hair. If you have thin hair, avoid dry shampoos. Wash your hair more often and only apply conditioner to your hair ends.

  • Thick Hair

People with thick hair can use hair gels, butter, masks, and oils to make it softer and more beautiful. Use a brush that’s intended for thick hair with fewer teeth to remove knots without damaging your hair.

  • Black Hair

The AAD advises people with black hair to avoid washing no more than once a week and to use conditioner after shampooing. Further, it’s recommended to avoid tight weaves, cornrows, and braids.

Consult A Dermatologist

If you have recurring hair problems, you should see a dermatologist. This skin and hair professional can assess your problems, such as thinning hair volume or hair loss, and recommend proven-effective solutions to resolve them.

Conclusion

Regardless of your hair type, you can build an excellent hair care routine by knowing your hair needs and using the right hair products. Follow the general care tips to maintain healthy hair and the specific care management specific for your hair type to make it more beautiful. Don’t hesitate to visit a dermatologist for hair and skin-related problems.
