We are positively trembling with excitement over the fact that the Game of Thrones season 4 finale will be happening in just two effing days. It has been quite a long time since we counted the best fashion moments of the season’s premiere, and my, we’ve come a long way, haven’t we? In order to prepare yourself for the epic last episode of this tumultuous, violent, devastating, and, as per usual, controversial season, we strongly recommend you pay tribute to the show by doing your hair like that of your favorite characters. That way, when you play that Game of Thrones drinking game like I know you will, you’ll look hot in all your drunkenly posted selfies–and your subsequent GoT tattoos, of course.
We searched for tutorials for these looks. Some already existed, some we had to adopt for our own Throne-y purposes. All are attainable with just a bit of work and some magical accessories.
1. Daenerys Targaryen
I mean, duh. When has her hair not looked incredibly beautiful? If you’re searching for a hairstyle fit for a queen, look no further than this stunning tutorial:
Oh, and don’t forget to do as queens do.
2. Jon Snow
It has its own contract, FFS, so of course, we had to include it here. If you’re into that wet/sexy/curly look that can be paired perfectly with forlorn glances and a fairly weak accent, this is the style for you.
Just spritz a bit of extra water on your hair after to get the messy damp look, then know absolutely nothing to achieve a perfect Jon Snow effect.
3. Margaery Tyrell
Rise to become the new queen with this perfectly-parted and very regal hairstyle. Her long auburn locks have always been stunningly stylish and almost to the prominence of her token smirk.
And just look at how stunning this woman’s red is!
4. Joffrey “Baratheon”
He may have sucked as a person, and he may not have actually been a Baratheon, but homeboy’s got a fascinating hairstyle. That super flat bowl cut? It’s coming back from the 90s (that’s the time period Game of Thrones takes place, right?). Now, while you don’t need to do anything exactly like his, you can always take some inspiration and do a smooth, short blonde look that is flat to the head and fit for a–well, queen. Or evil dictator with sociopathic tendencies.
Side note: how much do you wish Joffrey had had pink hair? Just saying.
5. Cersei Lannister
While she may be a horrible human being just like her son (albeit less sadistic, most of the time), Cersei has always worn some incredible hair. Here’s how to get the look for how she looked at Sansa’s wedding:
6. Brienne of Tarth
For all you short-haired ladies out there, Brienne’s hair is a fantastic way to style yourself into the show’s most badass knight. Get her messy, fun look with this easy tutorial.
Sword, suit of armor, and height are not included (but we wish they were).
7. Shae
Wondering if Shae will pop up in the season finale? Will her to do so by wearing a similar hairstyle that resembles her beautifully luscious and endlessly long one.
A half-up, the half-down look works for any occasion, whether you’re playing a GoT drinking game with your BFFs or going on a date where you’ll subsequently discuss GoT all night, even though the person you’re with doesn’t watch it and wishes you’d STFU. No matter what, you will look snazzy and Shae-like.
8. Khal Drogo
Duh. Aside from his Margot Tenenbaum eyeliner and pre-Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger muscles, Khal’s got some snazzy hair going on. Make it work for your next night out! If you want to intimidate the crap out of everyone at the bar, that is.
Powerful and strong. And unlike most male characters’ hairstyles, perfect for women with lengthy locks.
9. Melisandre (aka The Red Woman)
For anybody else who, like me, desperately wished to someday have rich scarlet hair full of various tones and depth exactly like Melisandre’s, there exist tutorials that can show you how to achieve this.
And you can get her style, too!
10. Dire Wolf
What? Don’t you want to be a wolf? Okay, here’s how to do it:
- Get a wolf.
- Become a warg and take over its body.
- ????
- PROFIT.
So, who has your favorite Game of Thrones hair? Besides the dire wolves, obvs.
