The long bob, aka “lob,” is having a major moment right now, with tons of celebs saying goodbye to their flowing locks and embracing the almost shoulder-length style. If you’re not as crazy as everyone else about lobs, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a bob haircut out there for you. From blunt bobs to asymmetrical ones, there are a huge variety of ways to wear the shorter style that work with your face shape and hair texture.

Here are 9 different types of bobs you should try:

1. Blunt Bob

A blunt bob looks like you just chopped your long hair two seconds ago, and it looks fabulous. There are no fancy layers and absolutely no split ends. Commit to this hairstyle and commit to mandatory four-week touch-ups.

2. Heavy Bangs Bob

Heavy Bangs Bob

This is the classic retro bob. Think Louise Brooks and her signature sharp bob and heavy bangs, or Katie Holmes when she was BFF with Victoria Beckham. It’s sharp, it’s crisp, and there never is a hair out of place.

3. Asymmetrical Bob

This is a proper haircut–and not a hairstylist mishap. It’s similar to an A-line bob, which gradually gets longer towards the front, but one side is longer than the other. Think Rihanna way back in her “Umbrella” days.

4. Shaved

This is a fairly new interpretation of the bob. Choose another style you like on the list, then shave parts of it to add some edge to your haircut, like Kelly Osbourne.

5. Soft Blended Bob

Soft Blended Bob

Bob haircuts have a reputation for being all hard lines and sharp edges, but there are some softer alternatives, like Emma Stone’s recent haircut. Subtle layers are added to create a less precise edge. If you get bangs, they are blended with the rest of the hair.

6. Lob

The long bob is the 2014 haircut of the year. A lot of bobs hit around the jawline or just below the ear, but the lob can just graze your shoulders. It’s great if you want to still be able to put your hair in a ponytail but want to cut down your blow-drying time.

7. Textured Bob

Bobs aren’t just for girls with straight hair. If you have wavy or curly hair, choose a tousled bob haircut that enhances your curls with soft layers, like Jennifer Lawrence and Karlie Kloss’ styles.

8. A-Line

Remember the “pob,” aka Victoria Beckham’s favorite short hairstyle of 2007? That has a variation of the popular A-line style, which is longer in the front, and shorter in the back. It’s like a reverse mullet.

9. Bob Saget

This is a bit different than all the rest but certainly worth trying. Maybe, instead of this exact haircut, just watch some Full House reruns for style inspiration.
