In 2008, actress Demi Moore revealed that she’d had leech therapy. According to the Daily Mail, Moore credits the treatment with keeping her looking young. “I was in Austria doing a cleanse, and part of the treatment was leech therapy. These aren’t just swamp leeches, though—we are talking about highly trained medical leeches. These are not some low-level scavengers. You take a teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it for 20 minutes before spitting it out. It is said that doing this draws toxins from the body, helps whiten teeth, and promotes gum health.
Sheep placenta facials
Yep, you read that right. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Harry Styles are fans of this strange facial. According to the New York Daily News, it involves exactly what you think it does: putting sheep placenta on one’s face. “Stem cells are basically the ground zero for cell growth. Collagen production slows down as we age, and stem cells are a great way to produce collagen and keep the skin looking youthful,” explained esthetician to the stars Joanna Vargas.
Bird poop facial

Cosmopolitan says this treatment costs about $250 and is available only in Japan. “Apparently, snail goo has a ton of antioxidants and skin-boosting properties—so much so that the salon started selling a serum with the stuff before devising this new treatment.” According to the Daily Mail, actress Katie Holmes reportedly buys “snail gel,” which is available in the UK and has similar results.
Rodial freeze treatment
Gwyneth Paltrow and Kylie Minogue reportedly enjoy this Botox alternative. “Rodial Glamoxy products contain Syn-ake—a neuropeptide which gives a mild freezing effect on wrinkles. This replicates the effect that real snake venom would have,” reports the Daily Mail.
