How to prevent dry winter skin

We are technically still over a week away from it being officially winter, but the cold weather has already started to wreak havoc on our skin. We have a bathroom cabinet full of moisturizers, and we’re busy slathering them over ourselves in an attempt to stop our skin from turning into something that looks like reptile scales. A lot of us worry about our faces getting dry in the colder weather, but we can’t forget about our bodies. The frigid temperatures followed by the long, hot showers can leave our bodies in desperate need of some moisturizing love. How do you keep your body moisturized in winter? Do you use a body lotion or oil, or do you use a nourishing shower cream?

In winter, I find I get particularly dry skin on my arms. As much as I say I will take quicker, cooler showers, I know that is never going to happen, so I use a moisturizing body wash in the shower. Then after I shower, I use a lotion, concentrating on my arms. I’m currently using Vaseline Sheer Infusion Mineral Body Lotion. It’s lightweight, and it absorbs quickly, so you don’t have to worry about your top getting stuck to it. I’ll sometimes use a scented lotion from Victoria’s Secret or Bath And Body Works, but I’ll only use it on my legs and feet since I find certain products can irritate the sensitive skin on my arms.
